AI Will Not Destroy Humanity
Evan Hubinger, a top safety researcher at AI company Anthropic, has made headlines with a warning that there is a greater than 10% chance AI “could kill all humans” within the next decade.
Is AI out of control? Are we accidentally creating a parallel silicon species? Could this wipe out humanity, accidentally or deliberately? Many people are afraid. Some world leaders deny the problem. Others are looking for ways to protect us. At Thursday’s AI safety summit in Scotland, Britain’s King Charles pressed global tech bosses to proceed with extreme caution.
Here’s the good news, AI will NOT be allowed to destroy the human race. God created the universe, and the earth within it, and He did so with purpose: Thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (He is God!), who formed the earth and made it. He established it; He did not create it empty, He formed it to be inhabited! (Isaiah 45:18).
God wants the earth to be inhabited by people who want to please Him and try to be like Him, to reflect His glory. Truly, as I live, and as all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord (Numbers 14:21).
In the prophetic book of Revelation, we read: The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever (Revelation 11:15).
God will send Jesus back to the earth, to set up this kingdom, which will last for ever. Jesus told us that there will be troubling times just before he comes back. This intervention will ensure that nothing destroys humankind or the planet – not AI, global warning, war, famine or disease.
There will be… on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world… And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near…. When you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near (Luke 21:25-31).
