Are you one of those people who won’t listen to the News anymore? It is all too depressing!
Wars, gun crime, assassinations, pandemics, rapes, global warming, spiralling prices, rising taxes, politicians who can’t be trusted. The list is endless. There seems to be little hope of us getting out of this mess!
If we trust solely in human beings solve all these problems, there’s good reason to be depressed. But in the Bible we find God’s message of hope. He did not create this beautiful world in order for human beings to pollute it and to destroy it. Neither did He create men and women so that they would ill-treat and kill each other. But that is what they have done. Even when He sent His Son into the world to show them a better way of living, men tortured and killed him. So has God still got a plan to save humankind and the world? He most certainly has.
There are many passages in the Bible indicating that our rule over the world will not continue for ever, For example, this is what Jesus Christ said when he looked forward to our time:
“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
You could also take a look at Micah 4:1-4, Psalm 72, and Revelation 21:1-4.
The Bible is full of pictures of a future world where God’s Son Jesus Christ will reign in righteousness, and the earth will be the peaceful place that God intended. We urge you to look into these promises and share with us this wonderful hope.
