Is this Britain’s LAST Prime Minister?

These have been an extraordinary few months in British politics. On 18th June, the Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham won the Makerfield by-election and was whisked into Parliament. He was promptly elected leader of the Labour Party, and on Monday 20th July was installed as Prime Minister.

He promises great things, including fairness across the country and better standards of living for everyone. We look forward to how events unfold.

But we’re asking an unusual question: will he be Britain’s LAST Prime Minister?

We’re not predicting some sort of military coup or descent into anarchy. We’re not reflecting on the more presidential style of modern leadership. We’re not speculating about the breakup of the United Kingdom. It’s bigger than that. It’s better. And it will affect every one of us.

Jesus Christ is going to return to the earth, and he will set up the Kingdom of God, which will not need human governments or administration. And the evidence is that he is coming soon. The Bible is very clear on this, and God has always kept His promises. These signs include:

  • World unrest and distress:There will be signs… distress of nations in perplexity … people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (Luke 21:25-27).
  • The breakdown of society’s values and personal integrity:In the last days… people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-5).
  • The nation of Israel reestablished in their historical homeland: “I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the LORD, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it” (Jeremiah 30:2-3).

This describes our world all too well. Please do check the Bible references for yourself, and there are many others which tell us the same thing. Did you notice in that first passage, that this is the immediate precursor to Jesus coming back?

The great news is just what the world will be like, with Jesus as its king. Everyone will live at peace, with fairness for all, true freedom, no more disease, hunger or war.Read about this wonderful new world in Psalm 72, and Isaiah chapters 2, 11 and 35.

The ultimate future experience is encapsulated here:

“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away…” (Revelation 21:3-4).
